Coaching for Key Employees

Many organizations are faced with the predicament of having a Key Employee involved in a harassment or diversity-related situation. One-on-one sensitivity coaching by human resource expert, Carol Flynn, is an important tool for the correction of employee misconduct, including allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination and performance issues. When workplace behavior may not warrant termination and you are prepared to invest in the rehabilitation of a high-potential employee, one-on-one coaching is the ideal solution.

Carol effectively works closely with clients to analyze the employee’s needs and devise a coaching plan to instill and reinforce important principles. Our program format is a positive, high energy, skill-building, educational investment in your Key Employee. Although there is no one-size-fits-all approach to executive coaching, three to five counseling sessions of two to four hours are usually sufficient to accomplish all the outlined objectives.

Plus this type of coaching demonstrates your commitment to taking prompt corrective action that federal, state, and local courts have linked to a reduction in the ability of plaintiffs to recover damages should complaints lead to lawsuits. The first step is to educate the employee on the legal and policy reasons why his/her conduct is problematic and then to commit the employee to a plan for behavioral modification based upon specific and measurable individual goals. Beyond the benefits of sensitivity and legal training, we provide the insights to improve performance and increase morale.

The content covered in one-on-one coaching session depends upon the individual employee’s needs, but may include such topics as:

  • Anger Management
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Discrimination
  • Effective Communication
  • Management Skills
  • Sexual Harassment based or sensitivity training based on other protected categories such as race, religion, national origin, etc.
  • Teambuilding

At the conclusion of the one-on-one coaching process, Carol provides clients with a letter summarizing the steps taken, the topics covered, and the employee’s degree of engagement and responsiveness. This letter memorializes the fact that the organization has taken serious action to address a situation which requires great care and tact.
